Managing partner of full service fly shop. Since the mid-eighties, has written and photographed on a variety of subjects for regional and national magazines.

Bio: Ackerman is a Registered Maine Guide, avid fly fisherman and big game hunter with a naturHis work in the outdoors includes16 years with L.L. Bean, where he served as the hunting & fishing buyer. He also helped developed one of the most successful fly-fishing schools in the country, serving many first time fly anglers. In 1998, he formed his own company.

Bio: Outdoors columnist, Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star (Virginia) daily newspaper. Contract outdoors journalist/photographer for Army Times Publishing Co., and militarytimes.com. Wild game cooking columnist and regular contributor, Virginia Wildlife magazine. Ken’s freelance work has appeared in more than a dozen other magazines over the last 20 years.

Bio: After receiving a Master’s degree in writing from Northern Michigan University, with a thesis in outdoor writing, I worked as a teacher. I then went to Cabela’s where I worked as a staff writer. I spent a couple of years in central Wisconsin as editorial director for Gun Digest books and Krause Outdoors books, before freelancing and joining the Hub.
