Slayer Calls introduces the first-ever acrylic handle for bugling

Elk season will look — and sound — different this year with Slayer's innovative new ArchAngel Acrylic Elk Call, created by world elk calling champion Cody McCarthy.

With the release of Slayer Calls' ArchAngel Acrylic Elk Call, something completely new is coming to the elk call industry.

World elk calling champion Cody McCarthy used his experience in the field to develop the first-ever acrylic mouthpiece for bugling with Slayer. The game-changing acrylic bugle puts an end to callers' persistent problem with other calls: the plastic sound.

The sound is so realistic that McCarthy is defending his champion title with Slayer's ArchAngel at the RMEF World Elk Calling Championships on July 22 and 23 in Park City, Utah.

But that's not the world champion's only big news. McCarthy has joined Slayer Calls as the hunting company's coach and head of product innovation. He's driven to create new products that really make a difference for hunters.

"Hunting should be how people can help others," McCarthy says. "I want to see the industry shift — it needs to be more organic and real."

McCarthy brings to Slayer his fresh perspective to a hunting industry steeped in tradition and a relentless pursuit of excellence.

"What's remarkable about Cody is that he's a perfectionist," Slayer CEO Bill Ayer says. "He will never be satisfied with products that are OK or good — he is obsessed with achieving great, not just good. This attitude allows Slayer to create the highest quality products to help hunter success in the field."

That commitment to quality is why the ArchAngel has a patent-pending Acrylic Sound Amplifying Back Pressure System, allowing callers to achieve superior control and hold over any elk vocalization. The ArchAngel bugle tube, named for one of Ayer's elk hunting buddies who passed away in 2021, is a way to remember lost ones while we're out in the woods.

Slayer Calls is also releasing six elk reeds, each with its own calling style, palate size, tonality and back pressure. For elk hunters looking to call like a world champion, the Cody McCarthy Signature Elk Series offers the acrylic elk call and McCarthy's top two elk diaphragm picks.

The acrylic bugle tube and set of mouth calls join Slayer's existing lineup of external cow elk and calf elk calls and a more traditional elk bugle tube. The American-made collection of elk calls is available on SlayerCalls.com.
