ATHENS, GA (February 19, 2018) – The Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) welcomed three new interns for winter/spring 2018 in two different areas of the organization. Autumn Christenson of Michigan and Alec Wold of Kansas will be assisting the Conservation Department, and Morgan Warda of Michigan will work in the Communications Department.
“We are honored to have these new interns on our team, and we hope this experience helps them better their education while they help QDMA achieve our non-profit mission and even improve our operations,” said John Eastman, QDMA Senior Director of Operations.
Conservation Interns
Autumn Christenson and Alec Wold are interns in the Conservation Department under Director Kip Adams. Their responsibilities will include helping with educational and certification programs and will be focusing on assisting with our advocacy and grant writing efforts.
Christenson is currently attending Michigan State University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in zoology. She has been an intern with the Boone & Crockett Club, where she worked to develop her own outreach program that was presented to the Department of Natural Resources. She also volunteered her time as a CWD Deer Surveyor and learned about population studies.
Wold has a bachelor of technical studies degree with an emphasis on communication systems. He currently works as a draftsman at Caterpillar Work Tools in Kansas where he assists engineers with project drawings. Wold is an avid bowhunter and Deer Steward I graduate. He has plans to start a QDMA Branch in his community.
Communications Intern
Morgan Warda is interning in the Communications Department with Director Lindsay Thomas Jr. She will be researching, writing and distributing press releases and assisting with social media to support QDMA public relations.
Warda has a bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology with a minor in writing. She currently works as a Soil Conservation Technician where she helps promote, plan, and implement conservation practices for landowners. In 2016 she was an intern with QDMA’s Education and Outreach Department. She is a Deer Steward I and II graduate and is currently the treasurer of the Shiawassee River QDMA Branch.
Future internship opportunities with QDMA will be posted on the Employment Page.
