PRE-CONFERENCE TRIPS

TUESDAY, MARCH 17

Why not travel to Springfield a day early? These special trips the day before the conference give you an amazing opportunity to explore some of the truly special parts of the region.

March 17, 6 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Lake Taneycomo was formed with the completion of Powersite Dam in 1913. It was originally a section of the White River, and although Taneycomo is now technically a lake, it retains the look and feel of a river. When the Table Rock Dam was completed at Taneycomo’s headwaters in 1958, the nature of the lake changed. Taneycomo’s water now comes from the bottom of Table Rock Lake, making it a cold-water lake. The cold, clear water, stocked annually with approximately 750,000 10-12″ rainbow and brown trout, makes Taneycomo a world-class trout fishing lake. Max 8 people.
March 17, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Springfield Conservation Nature Center allows visitors to explore a variety of Missouri habitats through hiking trails that showcase glades, river bottom, forest and others. Nature exhibits indoors educate, entertain and allow people to get in touch with nature.
March 17, 1 to 4 p.m.
Enjoy skeet shooting on a walk-through course at this range south of Springfield. Max 5 people. Once full, additional people can participate at the discounted rate of $40 per person.
March 17, Time TBD
Enjoy predator hunting? Coyote is the only hunting season open during your conference! The Springfield Convention & Visitors Bureau looking for a guide if you want to give it a try. Max 2 people. NOTICE: The DNR reports coyote hunting is an iffy, at best, proposition. The undulating terrain plays hard against hunter.
March 17, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Enjoy a morning tram tour through Dogwood Canyon Nature Park and an afternoon of hiking, biking, or fishing around the 10,000 acre paradise. Boxed lunch provided.
