The Professional Outdoor Media Association (POMA) announces Shreveport-Bossier, Louisiana as the destination for its 2017 POMA Business Conference, to be held June 13 – 17, 2017. Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau, Hilton Shreveport and Shreveport Convention Center are excited to be the selected hosts for our #POMA2017 event.
“From the pine forests to the famous Louisiana wetlands and waterways, Shreveport-Bossier has a lot to offer the outdoorsman,” said Kevin Orthman, executive director of POMA. “We are excited to bring the nation’s leading outdoor journalists to Shreveport-Bossier for a taste of the Bayou at next year’s business conference.”
“As we embark on a year of celebrating the outdoors of Louisiana, I am excited for the entire Shreveport-Bossier area to have the opportunity to host outdoor media professionals from around the country,” said Billy Nungesser, Lieutenant Governor for the state of Louisiana.
The POMA Business Conference is an annual event that draws hundreds of media who write about traditional outdoor sports (hunting, fishing, hiking, travel etc.) from around the country, along with the related conservation organizations and companies that serve the outdoor market.
“Our region of the state, known as Sportsman’s Paradise, is a lush playground for hunters, fishers and outdoor enthusiasts,” said Stacy Brown, president of the Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau. “Journalists will discover so many new story ideas and content for their audiences, and we couldn’t be more pleased to host such an outstanding group of outdoor media.”
While at the POMA Business Conference, attendees hear from leaders in the field, attend sessions to improve their craft, network and get hands-on with the latest products in the outdoor industry including off-road driving and a day-at-the-range.
“One of our missions in selecting a conference location every year is to showcase the great variety and natural diversity of our nation. There are so many ways you can enjoy the outdoors in America from the purple mountains of Montana to the rich wetlands of the Deep South,” said Orthman.
The POMA Business Conference has previously been held in Kalispell, Montana (2016) and Springfield, Missouri (2015). The 2017 POMA Business Conference in Shreveport-Bossier will be the organization’s 12th annual gathering.
