It is with deep sadness that POMA shares the news of E. Thayne Smith’s passing. Thayne was a Cornerstone Heritage Voting media member of POMA, and one of the members to bring the organization to life in 2005.

Thayne was an award-winning freelance writer, photographer, book author, and public relations professional, but everyone who knew him will more likely remember him for his kindness, mentorship, and friendship that were his trademarks. Thayne had an undeniable charisma that drew people to him and made friends of everyone he met.

He was one of the most respected and revered gentlemen in the outdoor industry, and never turned away anyone who was looking for advice or for a great story – of which he had many. His wisdom and quick smile were something he shared willingly and widely, and all who had the honor of knowing him will greatly miss him.
