The NRA Foundation has awarded several grants to the Mountain Valley Sportsman’s Association (MVSA) for the purpose of increasing the scope of its beginner shooting program for women and upgrading its shooting facility. Funds for the grants were provided through the Arkansas Friends of NRA.

Through the grants, MSVA purchased nine pistols for its Ladies on Target program, which focuses on pistol familiarization and safety training for women new to firearms. The increased ability to accommodate non-gun owners has allowed the program to expand from one annual class to ten each year. Thanks to the success of Ladies on Target, MSVA has begun offering Shoot What You Carry, a class for advanced women’s pistol shooting which focuses on self-defense.

The NRA Foundation grants have additionally enabled MVSA to upgrade and enhance its facility’s shooting bays to provide shooters with a better range experience.
