The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is growing significantly in the state of Arizona, with the hiring of Regional Director Terry Herndon last year and the ensuing formation of almost a dozen local chapters.
The Mule Deer Foundation (MDF) is growing significantly in the state of Arizona, with the hiring of Regional Director Terry Herndon last year and the ensuing formation of almost a dozen local chapters.
This past weekend, MDF had the opportunity to reach 38,500 folks in the Phoenix area, including thousands of youth, during the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s 2013 Outdoor Expo.
MDF, in conjunction with the M.U.L.E.Y. (Mindful, Understanding, Legal and Ethical Youth) program, was a bronze level supporter and held activities based on the Archery Trade Association’s Explore Bowhunting Curriculum during Friday’s Expo Youth Day. On Saturday and Sunday, MDF sponsored the Youth Introduction to Shooting Range (.22 rifle range) and also had an exhibit booth profiling MDF projects and future plans for habitat enhancements in Arizona.
Regional Director Terry Herndon said, “Arizona Game and Fish put on a wonderful event, and it was great to have so many MDF volunteers show up and lend a hand. We are very excited about our expansion throughout Arizona and look forward to helping mule deer in the state.”
MDF President and CEO Miles Moretti added, “Terry has done a great job increasing MDFs presence in Arizona. He’s cultivating a good relationship with the Arizona Game and Fish Department, and events like the Expo last weekend help spread MDF’s conservation message while safely introducing youth to the shooting sports. Terry’s work with government agencies and the general public will definitely aid MDF’s mission in the Grand Canyon state.”
