The effort to reduce waste products dates back almost a decade and the SQG declaration is the first step toward Leupold’s goal of becoming a Conditionally Exempt Generator, which recognizes the most efficient manufactures who produce the least amount of waste. The new classification takes effect in 2014.
“Moving into the SQG category is a major accomplishment for a manufacturer the size of Leupold & Stevens, Inc., and demonstrates the company’s continued commitment to American manufacturing,” said Mack Stanley, the company’s senior environmental, health and safety specialist.
The continued effort by Leupold & Stevens, Inc., serves two key goals. First, as a company filled with outdoor enthusiasts, reducing waste helps preserve natural resources for future generations. Second, this helps ensure Leupold remains an American manufacturing company, safeguarding hundreds of jobs in the Portland area.
Leupold & Stevens, Inc., the preeminent American-owned optics company, employs hundreds of people in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility near Beaverton, Ore. Family owned and operated, Leupold offers products that are sold worldwide to hunters, competitive shooters, American military warfighters, law enforcement personnel and wildlife observers. The product line includes rifle, handgun and spotting scopes; binoculars; rangefinders; trail cameras; mounting systems; and optical tools and accessories.
