Hunting Incident Investigation Academy Training Reduces Hunting Related Accidents
Ash Grove, MO–Fifty-one wildlife officers from 15 states recently participated in the 2014 Hunting Incident Investigation Academy (HIIA)–a 40-hour specialized hunting-related shooting incident investigation program that trains commissioned wildlife officers to properly investigate and document hunting-related shooting incidents.
Through the enhanced investigation, evidence collection and reporting, hunter education administrators nationwide review and analyze the data collected and develop curriculum and media outreach efdforts to aid in the prevention of hunting incidents. Subsequently, hunter education course volunteer instructors provide students with the needed knowledge and skills to avoid becoming a hunting accident statistic.
