POMA member, Hannah Stonehouse Hudson, recently presented a TEDx talk about empathy on social media, and the power of virtual communities.

Hannah takes viewers on a personal journey, as she experiences both the highs and lows of reactions from social media and virtual communities. Through humor and emotion she leaves the viewer with a clear understanding of the impact social media can have, after this image she took went viral and again when sharing a personal loss online.

She also provides advice – based on her first-hand experience – on gauging what, or what not, to say to someone who is dealing with a rough situation.
