Ducks Unlimited recently awarded Senior Regional Director Joe Breidenbach a 2012-13 Regional Director of the Year award for his outstanding efforts as a staff member in Region 2, an area that encompasses the American prairies and great plains.
“I am honored to be recognized as one of the RDs of the year,” Breidenbach said. “I could not have accomplished this without the help of my amazing volunteers.”
Breidenbach, a resident of Robinson, covers North Dakota and works with volunteer committees hosting fundraising events for the 76-year-old wetlands conservation organization. The events in Breidenbach’s region raised more than $700,000 for DU’s conservation mission during the fiscal year ending June 30.
“Joe will be retiring later this year and that will signal the end of one of the most successful careers DU has ever seen,” said David Schuessler, DU’s national director of grassroots fundraising. “He is the epitome of a passionate waterfowl hunter who has spent the majority of his life doing the ducks’ work. He is a true conservation hero.”
Volunteers are the heart and soul of Ducks Unlimited, coordinating more than 4,000 local events that generate more than 400,000 memberships and more than $50 million annually.
