Tammy Sapp, Chairwoman
Tammy moves from the president’s seat to chairwoman. Tammy worked as an outdoor writer, photographer and communications professional throughout her 26-year career. She worked for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation for more than a decade before accepting the challenge to grow the communications department for the National Wild Turkey Federation. Sapp has worked for other organizations and companies including Remington Outdoor Foundation and Kalkomey Enterprises, Inc. Today, she directs the corporate communications program for Bass Pro Shops, the leading outdoor retailer specializing in gear for hunting, fishing, camping and more.
Tom Opre, President
Tom was previously the POMA secretary. He’s a second-generation outdoor communicator who has traveled the world in pursuit of the best hunting, fishing and outdoor adventures. Tom owns Tahoe Films, LTD and has 22 years experience as a film producer and director. He has developed television spots for Aimpoint, Otis Technology, Federal Cartridge, Polaris and others. He is an NRA Life Member and resides in the Flathead Valley of Montana with his wife Olivia Nalos Opre and his three children.
Doug Gilmer, Secretary
Doug has served as a board director since 2011. Building on his over 20 years of law enforcement and military experience, Doug began writing law enforcement and tactical articles as a way to break into the outdoor market. Today, Doug is the editor of “The Call – When Faith Goes Afield” published by Grand View Media. He also provides content to a number of other traditional print and digital publications. As a professor of Adventure and Outdoor Leadership at Liberty University, Doug is a mentor to dozens of students each year. He’s also a frequent seminar and conference speaker and book author. Also known as the Backcountry Chaplain, Doug and his family make their home in northern Virginia.
